Rijksmuseum

Bright sky opens to reveal the sun between the spires of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

Beneath the museum, a long tunnel reminds me of China Miéville’s “The City and the City” and its passages between overlapping worlds.

Peaking through the glass reveals an otherworldly modern interior that perhaps continues that Miéville theme in its own way.

Boats in Ommen

Though boats are an everyday part of Dutch life, the large fraction of these boats that were occupied by people living and traveling in them (thus not leisure-craft nor houseboats) leads me to believe that I observed the river-and-canal-going equivalent of the caravans also visible at the edges of the image.

Pristine Soccer Field

Summer efforts brought a beautifully pristine soccer field to life at Trinity. From above, I appreciate even more the gentle slope of the hills that arranges the rest of campus in the background. The little chimneys of Northam peak up on the left side of the image in a way I find particularly appealing.

Concrete Jungle Upgrades

This dense assemblage of dormitories at Trinity College was long referred to as the “concrete jungle”, but it’s now getting a major upgrade and the majority of the concrete for which it was named is missing. Will it return? I’ll be curious to find out!

New Fitness Center… Loading…

Summer construction is bringing new buildings to Trinity—in this case, a much-needed update to the fitness center. These are the kinds of drone shots that are moderately interesting in the moment and downright fascinating in futures years, once the campus stands permanently changed.
