Long Walk Indomitable

The monolithic shadowed face of Trinity College’s Long Walk is particularly dramatic as morning sunshine bounces from the leaves of the surrounding trees.

(And yes, I’m still six months behind processing pictures. And autumn in New England looks great.)

Long Walk After Snow

Despite any efforts to the contrary, nostalgia sneaks into my life at moments I least expect. Trinity’s Long Walk was my undergraduate home for several years and this particular moment—a winter evening, as the sun goes down and the smell of dinner cooking in the dining hall climbs aboard the surprisingly warm breeze—was so evocative of the experiences that made me fall in love with campus 20 years ago.

A Spring Morning at Trinity College

Perfect, breezy, warm, and effulgent spring days have sprawled across Trinity’s campus, rather like students on the quad. Grading papers in my office can at least be softened by an open window and the resulting smell of flowers.

Chapel with Moon

While I was a student at Trinity, all of the lighting on campus was from orange sodium vapor lamps. The transition to white LED lighting has made a dramatic shift in the feel of the place at night, but the golden hue of the chapel here provides a little nostalgic taste of the one-time colors of the place.
