Our summer rental cottage in rural(ish) Kentucky provides my wife’s favorite benefit: waking up to horses in the back yard. There’s no better coffee companion than an equine friend.
Our July/August home-away-from-home in Kentucky is a farm cottage on a tiny, quiet country road… Well, quiet most nights. On this particular evening, a concert had just let out at the vineyard across the road and a sudden blast of vehicles added some passers-by to our neighborhood.
Glowing embers rising from the chimney of a cozy cabin may look charming, but I can’t recommend it. Cabins tend to be less cozy when the roof is on fire.
Picture the setting: Berkeley’s anachronistic Normandy Village, early Sunday morning after a night of heavy rain. Quietly heading down the back stairs to get a cup of truly life-changing coffee. Passing by another tiny and odd Spruce St. apartment.
