There’s nothing like Clement Chemistry Building’s dark-academic library as a place to literally cloister oneself in the days leading up to a big final exam in the end boss of chemistry: Physical Chemistry.

A Snow Day at Trinity College I–III
Snow swept in over the weekend, accompanying the final exam preparations with a highly distracting winter aesthetic.
Impossible Chapel View
When showing this picture of Trinity College’s chapel and Long Walk to a fellow alum, his first question was, “Where did you go to take this?” A near-lifetime of seeing the same perspectives from the same high points on campus made a shot like this one a complete surprise—a reaction that I’m always happy to provide.
An Unusual Long Walk Perspective
The impossibility of this particular view of Trinity’s Long Walk keeps my eye returning to the perspective line as the building stretches away in the distance but doesn’t leave the frame.
Jumping in a Perfect Setting
Folly Farm and Trinity College hosted an IHSA showjumping competition and allowed me to line up this perfect shot: jumping horse in the foreground, crowd and barn in the middle-distance, and foliage-encrusted hillside in the background
The Night of (Probably) No Aurora
Strong CMEs arrived at Earth to find… cloud cover, at least over Hartford. I nonetheless flew my drone and I can almost convince myself that I see some green glow coming through the clouds amid the city lights scattering back.
The In-Gate
Color-matched school-spirited students crowded around the in-gate at Folly Farm for last weekend’s IHSA show.
Above It
At Trinity College’s IHSA show, the riders stood above the crowd (literally) while mounted for their class.
Foliage on Request
When peak foliage arrives at Trinity, there’s a perfect moment to capture it and I’m happy to say that I think I timed it perfectly in this particular case.
The Northern End of the Long Walk
The administration’s end of the Long Walk, with handy HR and deans’ offices, isn’t one I visit as frequently but it’s no less beautiful in the fall.
Hartford’s Rivendell
A refuge amongst the trees–Hartford’s Trinity College or Middle-earth’s Rivendell? Flying my drone this weekend, I found a previously-unexplored angle from which to capture our campus and found a new perception of home.
Light Academia
If “Dark Academia” has become a fairly well-worn genre with familiar tropes, I can’t say I’d mind finding a more optimistic and friendly version—less secret knowledge driving cults towards madness, more dragging indoor furniture into the sunshine to produce a comfy afternoon study spot.
A Trinity Hawk Watching Hartford
Flying a drone is often a strangely lonely affair—high above the world, separate from it—but on this occasion, my Mini 3 Pro had a companion in this red-tailed hawk, perched on Trinity College’s chapel.
A Porsche at the Long Walk
Quiet summer evenings along Trinity College’s Long Walk, so calm and dignified and neogothic, are best complemented by the shiny silver paint of a vintage Porsche 911.
Trinity College Skyline
“Skyline” might be applied more frequently to grand cityscapes, but the sight of Northam Hall and the Chapel standing out amount the Connecticut hillsides is as nostalgic a view as Manhattan to me.
