Last week, the grandeur and [somewhat ostentatious] glory of the Trinity College Chapel from afar was the subject. This picture comes from the wings of the same structure, but from a much smaller, quieter place. The same gracefully imposing style is painted in the hues of sodium lamps and setting sun.

Golden Gate at Dusk
Going back through old photos is always a trip. This particular shot reminds me how far I’ve come in the past year. At the time I don’t think I thought anything of this picture but now looking at it I really like the contrast between the colors in the sky and the darkness falling over the bay and the silhouette of the Golden Gate Bridge. The clouds rolling in from the ocean also add a neat effect.
Park Out Back
So often in suburbia, the facades of buildings are a bit boring and a couple of designs feel ubiquitous. The back of a commercial property, though, has been given over to this hyper-utilitarian aesthetic that is a much more interesting subject. A couple of security lights cast the some of the best shadows.
Golden Gate Bridge in the Haze
Normally I’d have thrown a shot like this away as its no good for HDR (there are no details to enhance, only shadows) but looking at it and playing with the white balance and composition a bit I think I like the effect. There’s a sense of grand scale here with the top of the bridge emerging from the haze and with the infamous Alcatraz in the foreground.
The Bay Bridge Near Dusk
Another in our set of shots of San Francisco Bay in the evening, this shot features prominently the Bay Bridge as well as Yerba Buena island and the San Francisco skyline including the silhouette of Sutro Tower appearing to rise above the cloud cover rolling in over the city.
