#GRIDLIFE Corvette
Corvettes were unsurprisingly in abundance at #GRIDLIFE Circuit Legends, but the particular livery of this GT car combined perfectly with motion blurs.
Family Driftmobile
Last weekend brought #GRIDLIFE Circuit Legends to Lime Rock Park and I went full photographer, including a new circularly polarized filter that reveals new details, like the driver and passenger inside this drifting Volvo wagon.
Race-Prepped Porsche
The little details—the hood latches, the roll cage, the vents through the plexi windows—are what made this particular vehicle stand out in the paddock. The red paint doesn’t hurt, either.

Big Man, Small Miata
This large man faces the large challenge of fitting a small Miata into a small trailer and extricating himself when the task is done. I do not envy him.
Miata Return Afternoon
This kind of image—period vehicles, strange race-prepped Miatas, everyday clothing, a pleasing landscape setting—is the sort that I anticipate I’ll be most interested to return to in 50 years. Capturing the experience of the end of the day at MiataCon crisply, telling the most about the space and the moment.

When a whole image is motion blue but a single happy Miata face, I think the sensation of speed is being pretty well-captured.
Miatas with Big Wings
MiataCon brought an array of modified-beyond-recognition Miatas to Lime Rock Park—with many of them sporting monster wings.
The 10-year-old in me has to admit that they look neat.
Of course, their goals vis-à-vis downforce weren’t always accomplished. (Believe it or not, the blue Miata managed to avoid colliding with the McDonald’s-colored Miata.)
Race Track Landscape
Lime Rock Park is a classic racing circuit among the rolling hills of northwestern Connecticut; while each of these components is visually compelling, I’m still working at finding the right way to combine the two different scales into a single image that captures the experience.

Red-hot weather needs a pack of red-hot Miatas—in a color Mazda designers evidently love.

Through the warm hues of early-autumn grasses, I guess this Miata just wanted to escape the harvest.
Bad Day for Miata
MiataCon is mostly a fun day for Miatas, for but these examples, the situation was a bit less optimal.
As the NASCAR fans say, “If you ain’t rubbin’, you ain’t racing’.”
Given the ingenuity of pit crews, I expect these Miatas will be back in action before we know it.
Battleship Miata
Look at the juxtaposition of the very serious battleship-gray paint and tinted headlights with that adorable smiling happy Miata face—it gets me every time.
King of Miatas?
Swagger and a backdrop of vintage NA Miatas make me want to dub this unknown individual with a dramatic title, but I’m sure there’s a tuner somewhere in Japan who has more properly earned the title.
