Let’s start with a pair of Mustangs from very different eras:
Followed by another drift car from Nappy Boy Automotive:
And finishing with a Nissan Silvia.
A drift train of BMW 3ers (a.k.a. E36 3-series) at #GRIDLIFE Circuit Legends shows how differently similar starting points can evolve into wild performance vehicles.
I previously captured this camera car preparing for the action, but seeing it trailing a drifting Mustang in its very forward-facing grip-driving mode makes for an effective demonstration of the differences between the driving styles.
A black Nissan raising a huge cloud of white tire dust is already 80% of the way to being in black and white, so I finished the job.
A pack of Japanese sports cars going sideways in a haze of tire smoke should best be described as “driftacular”.
This Nissan was serving as a camera car, keeping pace behind drifters and recording their antics. Though those shots are dramatic, the most engaging to me is this one of the driver preparing and consulting with another member of her team before an upcoming run.
At #GRIDLIFE Circuit Legends 2024, T-Pain drifted the Nappy Boy Automotive Nissan 240SX S14.
This was the full width of the drifting shot I captured of this Audi—so large, so fast, so drifty that it’s exploding out of the frame. Though I was originally going to delete the shot, there’s something about the “exit stage right” energy of the unintentional crop that I can’t ignore it.
Drifting is an activity best left to professionals, but no professional is perfect—this BMW is doing some earth moving of its own in plain view of a true earthmover.
