The impossibility of this particular view of Trinity’s Long Walk keeps my eye returning to the perspective line as the building stretches away in the distance but doesn’t leave the frame.

Crane at Bushnell Tower
The roof replacement at 1 Gold St. required a crane to reach above the 27th floor and deliver materials, and its emplacement closed Gold St. itself for a month. With all of that scale and drama, I guess I thought that the crane would be… taller? (Of course, it’s not in its “active” configuration in this shot.)
Spied Through Foliage
The maple foliage can’t quite hide the Neo-Gothic carvings of Trinity College. Though I’d imagine this particular turret window isn’t a frequent viewing spot, I think it’s about the perfect spot for, uh, perhaps a ghost to ponder the quad.
Jumping in a Perfect Setting
Folly Farm and Trinity College hosted an IHSA showjumping competition and allowed me to line up this perfect shot: jumping horse in the foreground, crowd and barn in the middle-distance, and foliage-encrusted hillside in the background
The Night of (Probably) No Aurora
Strong CMEs arrived at Earth to find… cloud cover, at least over Hartford. I nonetheless flew my drone and I can almost convince myself that I see some green glow coming through the clouds amid the city lights scattering back.

The administration’s end of the Long Walk, with handy HR and deans’ offices, isn’t one I visit as frequently but it’s no less beautiful in the fall.

Blissful Park Afternoon
There’s an excellent playground in Hartford’s Bushnell Park. Its large jungle gym, visible with its bright yellow and white upper structure in the foreground, is a miniature model of the State Capitol, found on the other side of the park.
No Kings Protest, October 18
I captured this image of the protest at the Connecticut State Capitol as crowds gathered. I really like the way the shadows of the crowd seem to extend out from the center of the image.
Hartford Towers Above the Trees
Golden light, golden buildings, green colors in the park. Flying a drone can unveil a new perspective from an altitude that wouldn’t be accessible otherwise, but it can also just give a boat’s-eye view with a lot less paddling.
Old Burial Ground in Hartford
In the center of downtown Hartford is the settlement’s first burial ground; the centuries-old gravestones beside modern steel-and-glass buildings is the perfect start to October spookiness.
Bushnell Park Returns
After a summer spent under construction to fully overhaul the pond, work is finally complete and our city park looks more beautiful than ever. In the distance, the State Capitol is lit by the last of the warm early-autumn sunshine.
