Prepping the Camera Car
This Nissan was serving as a camera car, keeping pace behind drifters and recording their antics. Though those shots are dramatic, the most engaging to me is this one of the driver preparing and consulting with another member of her team before an upcoming run.

Chevy vs… Acura?
Though not perhaps the traditional matchup for either Chevrolet or Acura, this pair dueled through a #GRIDLIFE Touring Car race in a surprisingly even duel.
Watching Drifting from a Hill
Though the drifting was spectacular, the #GRIDLIFE spectators provided some fascinating compositions of their own. Standing atop this hill by a rally-specced Porsche, the crowd looks like generals overseeing a battlefield.
Drifting Audi
This was the full width of the drifting shot I captured of this Audi—so large, so fast, so drifty that it’s exploding out of the frame. Though I was originally going to delete the shot, there’s something about the “exit stage right” energy of the unintentional crop that I can’t ignore it.
Leave the Excavation to the Professionals
Drifting is an activity best left to professionals, but no professional is perfect—this BMW is doing some earth moving of its own in plain view of a true earthmover.

Weather is clear and a trip to #GRIDLIFE tomorrow is on! Let’s celebrate with a few more previously unseen shots from last year’s event.
#GRIDLIFE Up in the Air
The final decision on whether or not to attend this year’s #GRIDLIFE Circuit Legends in Lime Rock will depend on weather, meaning it’s currently up in the air. I thought I might match that with some shots from last year’s event of cars literally “up in the air.”
Black Silvia
This black Nissan Silvia was a sinister presence at #GRIDLIFE last year, but the reflections from its surfaces killed the dark-and-menancing tone. I’d typically address this with a polarizer, but didn’t have one handy. Luckily, some polarized sunglasses did the trick. I rather like the effect of the bokeh’ed-out lens in front of the car, like a bodyguard waving away paparazzi.
AMG on the Track
As much as I touted the glory of humble Civics bloodying the noses of prestigious vehicles, there’s a contrapositive joy from seeing an expensive car like an AMG GT devouring racetrack.
Civics with Wings
There’s something about seeing humble (but race-prepped) Civics going toe to toe with drastically more traditionally quick (and expensive) vehicles that’s very satisfying. In addition to what I’m sure are serious weight-reduction, suspension, and power improvements, the dramatic aero makes a big difference.
