Spring Flowers
The bay area is notable for its gentle climate but this is never more true than during the spring. Even Berkeley is full of color, with flowers everywhere. These flowers were just hanging out on the sidewalk.
Red Leaves
While on a walk around the suburbs of Seattle in the “dead of winter” (or the nearest that Seattle ever gets) I was amazed at all of the color present, despite the lack of flowers. All sorts of brightly colored berries and these brightly colored leaves.
Vancouver Sky
There’s something magnificent about the views around Vancouver of the hills and the water. There’s something even more amazing about those same views around sunset when the sky just absolutely fills with color. For these reasons, among others, Vancouver’s got to be one of my favorite places on this planet.
That and if you walk around long enough you start to recognize locales featured in MacGyver.

San Francisco’s waterfront is really pretty spectacular at night. There’s so much color.
Happy Thanksgiving: Busy Intersection
It always amazes me how dense San Francisco’s Chinatown is. The number of store fronts on this block alone is staggering, and coupled with the number of cars parked along the sides of the street it feels very claustrophobic. At the same time it makes it seem busy, even though there are really only a handful of people in the shot. It just seems like there should be a lot going on here.
Wonderfully Detailed House
In Berkeley there are some truly spectacular houses. This one is just up the street from my apartment, and has always caught my eye, mostly because it sticks out like a sore thumb, being flanked by sort of bland apartment buildings. With the coloring and the detailing over the front porch this house always reminds me of a flowering thistle or a flowering artichoke.
