Despite the water in the man-made Buckeye Lake being at the lower winter level over concerns about the structural integrity of its earthen dam, and the ensuing economic problems this causes for local businesses, or maybe because of this, the lake is serene around dusk. Not currently being deep enough for boats, the only disturbances are the odd catfish or blue heron. Very peaceful.
It’s hard to adequately describe the view from the tops of the balds of Grassy Ridge. This particular vantage is from Jane Bald. While hiking along here it is immediately clear why people would want to hike the Appalachian trail.
Such an iconic part of Seattle’s skyline, I grabbed this shot from Kerry Park on a very Seattle day. Only thing better would be if the mountain had been out.
I love that time of the evening when the earth is dark but the sky is still blue with just hits of orange and red and the clouds have just a little pink hue.
Cityscapes, especially at sunset, are a particularly wonderous thing. The light reflecting off of glass, the vistas down the urban canyons, it is really a sight to behold.
This old pump links to an old well, and when I was a child, my favorite part of coming to this forrest was getting a chance to work the huge handle and get our just a little bit to drink. This pump is a water fountain you have to seriously commit to. In the time I’ve known about it, this pump has been repeatedly repainted; most recently, it was a chipped and dull red. When I returned to it as an adult, it was new, bright blue.
Decaseconds
