Pearse Lyons Distillery was constructed in a long-disused church in Dublin. The full renovation of the space included replacing the original (and long-damaged) stained glass with whiskey-focused glass. (Check out the glass still in the window behind the copper stills!)

Night Before the Steeple
In the fall of 2013 at St. Lawrence University (on Parents’ Weekend, no less!), the gorgeous old copper steeple of Gunnison Memorial Chapel burned down from an electrical fire. Renovations and repairs are finally done, and the new copper steeple was delivered yesterday. Today, it will be hoisted up and returned to the top of the repaired bell tower, but last night I paid it a visit during the blue hour to get a feeling for the scale of the structure.
Copper Stills
The big, copper stills at Woodford Reserve are “where the magic happens,” and I have to admit: against the limestone backdrop, they certainly look impressive. Perhaps the whole scene is bit too carefully constructed for the tourists, but if the stills are real, and the whiskey is real, then I might as well just sit back and enjoy it.
