At the moment the sunset sets behind the hills, the sky above San Francisco is still gold, but the massive structures and high-tech vehicles of the city below are activating their illumination machines and preparing for night beneath the marine layer. If the Bay Area is a loose solar system of different worlds, San Francisco must be its cyberpunk crown jewel.

Fascinating image. I’ve spent sometime looking at it. Lots of land marks showing up. Is the center the Palace of Fine Arts? Well done. I’d like to know more about the process of getting this image.
Thanks! Because of the structure of the polar distortion used to start the image, the center is actually Emeryville and the Port of Oakland, all twisted together. I started with a polar distortion (described here: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/create-stereographic-projections-photoshop-gimp/), then used a stereoscopic projection to make the parts of the image near the horizon bigger, and the center a bit smaller.
