Right. Once you notice it, it can make you claustrophobic. . . . I believe that at one point in the 19th c., Massachusetts was almost completely deforested, because all the firewood was needed for heating homes. The soil is stony and not so great for growing stuff, so once there were alternatives, all the trees grew back. . . .
